Expedition:Ecuador

Ecuador is a country with a rich heritage and a diverse setting. With Andes and the Amazon rain forest to the east and the warm water and Galapagos Islands to the west, the equatorial country is a contrast of civilization and remote reaches of wilderness. In Guayaquil, millions of people and the beautiful waters greet you--here you will spend the next week helping the poorest of the poor distributing food to school children, cleaning up communities and changing the lives of families forever. You will leave forever changed. 

Participants will get an equal mix of hard work, enrichment and fun during this StudentReach expedition. The difficult situation for families in Ecuador leaves one million students without access to education each year. The Licea Christiano de Guayaquil offers a free education to student whose families cannot afford the costs of public education in the City of Guayaquil. Our team will help build a classroom to help the school reach its goal of 100 classrooms. Our team will also participate in the school's feeding program, which, for many students, represents their only source of nutrition. We will also work in the slums of Guayaquil where poverty takes on a new definition. Working with our national contacts there, your perspective will be changed as we support programs to help people in very difficult circumstances. During our free time, activities will include going to the beach and visiting the historical city of Guayaquil.
